A house donation for a war hero
 Paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice made by Sgt. Jayasekara in the Humanitarian Operation, a House constructed with the funds of International District 306C Pelawaththa, Lions Club and the guidance of the president of Sewa Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence, was donated to Mrs.Nayana Kumari Jayasekara Monday (June 15). Sgt. Jayasekara a member of the 10th Artillery Regiment made the supreme sacrifice on 08.03.2009 while serving for his motherland during the Humanitarian operation. Mrs. Jayasekara who became helpless after her husband's death, presented her housing problem to General RAP Ranaweera the Director of Defence College where her daughter is studying. Subsequently, the problem was directed to the Seawa Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence by General Ranaweera which resulting the construction of a new house with the funds provided by 306C Pelawaththa Lions Club.
The construction of the new house in Homagama was commenced on 25th March 2010 with the laying of Foundation by Mrs. ayoma Rajapaksa the President of Sewa Vanitha Unite of the Ministry of Defence. The erection of the house was completed by the Army Engineer Unit in a period of 2 1/2 months.
Mrs. Indu Rathnayaka, the Vice President of the Sewa Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence and Lion Saliya Kaluarachchi the Leader of the District 306C Pelawaththa Lions Club also participated in the occasion of handing over the house to Mrs. Nayana Kumari Jayasekara.
