HOUSTON (Reuters) - Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson was detained early on Saturday after he resisted arrest outside a popular downtown Houston entertainment complex, police said.
The National Football League player was held on $1,000 bail at aHouston jail, according to the Houston Police Department's website. The site said he was booked on a charge of resisting arrest.
A police spokesman did not immediately return calls requesting comment on what led to Peterson's arrest.
A jail representative, who declined to give her name, said Petersonwas arrested at Bayou Place, which features a Hard Rock Café, restaurants and four drinking establishments.
Peterson, 27, who is from Palestine, Texas, has been recuperating from an injury last December that required surgery.
