Sri Lanka apex court sets aside interim order preventing MTV/MBC from broadcasting Olympic Games

Sri Lanka's Supreme Court has today set aside an interim order issued by the Commercial High Court on private media institution, MTV/MBC Network and granted permission for the network to telecast the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Supreme Court has removed the enjoining order issued on MTV/MBC preventing it from broadcasting the 2010 Olympics in London when a petition filed by the MTV/MBC against the Commercial High Court order was heard.

The Commercial High Court earlier issued an enjoining order preventing the Asia Pacific Broadcasting (APC) from giving broadcasting rights of the Olympic Games this year to a private television station in Sri Lanka after state owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) filed a case before court saying it had sole rights to telecast the games.
